The other day, in this really awesome reading group I’m in, everybody was talking about their reading goals. Were they met? Were they not met? How many books did they read in 2013? Were they good? Stuff like that. So, naturally, I went to my Goodreads and checked out my 2013 books. I already knew, before I even checked, that I hadn’t read *that many* books this year. I’m a big time mood reader so sometimes I’ll pick up a book and if it doesn’t grab me in the first five sentences, I move on. Yes, 5 sentences (reason #2309348 why I cannot be a book blogger lol). Aaaaanyway, I’m not a book boyfriend reader, I don’t read to fall in love with a fictional guy (although I do love it when that happens). I read for story. Story story story. As usual, I’m rambling. What is the point of this post? Well, I want to share the books I read this year (I read more than these but I’m only sharing the ones I *really* enjoyed). I set up rafflecopters for some of these books, not all. The way I chose the books for the rafflecopters was simple: books I think more people should be talking about.
Here I go…
Funny-smutty reads. I absolutely LOOOOVEEE this series. I love it so much that I want it to go on forever. Can’t they just keep writing about these Beautiful creatures?! I read Beautiful Bastard first, loved it. I loved what a jerk Bennett was, I loved the sarcasm, the wit, everything. Then Beautiful Stranger, can we say hot as fuck? Seriously. Say it. I mean, hello, the guy was British, which means British accent and sex in…all places…love. But then…Beautiful Player…AH. I think that was their best one yet (in my opinion, it had the best development out of all of them, but again, I LOVE this entire series).

Books that surprised me. When I picked up The Boss by Abigail Barnette, I was looking for a smutty read. I usually look for these when I’m writing because I don’t want to be emotionally involved in another story, etc. Anyway, I started reading this hot story…and got way more than what I bargained for. The Boss was good, The Girlfriend was…WHOA. That’s all I’ll say.
Books that got me through a book funk. I was recommended Painted Faces by a friend after I told her that I was in a major book funk. I was hesitant about it when I read the blurb, but I am so glad I read it. SO glad I read it. This is a book that I know I will read over and over whenever I’m in a funk.
Unteachable by Leah Raedar. Holy cow. It has the hotness and feels of a forbidden love story, but the writing is what really takes the cake.
Romantic Suspense. As you may (or may not) know, suspense, horror, sci-fi, I’m a fan of those genres. Romantic suspense is pretty much my perfect genre because it mixes two things I enjoy reading. Sins & Needles (theTAT series) has all of that and then some. This series pulled me in from the very beginning.
PNR. I don’t “do” PNR often, but when I do, I like to do it with this man named Dorian. Haha…really, though, fucking Dorian. And Nikolai. The Stavros brothers are off the chain. If you haven’t checked out this series by SL Jennings, please do. The Dark Prince and Nikolai came out this year and they were both amazing.

Last, but DEFINITELY not least…Author of the Year: Rainbow Rowell. I’m saying author of the year because the books I’m about to post are hands down my favorite reads of the year.
The first is a YA novel. I don’t really read YA often. I just find that I cannot relate. To me, most YA characters act like immature adults and when I was a teenager, I was a teenager, not an immature adult. This book, Eleanor & Park was written, in my opinion, flawlessly. It shows the struggle without losing that teenage voice. You hear the words, you feel the bullying, you know the depravity they face at home. It is…very good.ย Eleanor & Park
Fangirl…oh, Fangirl. I loved this story so much. If you’re into Harry Potter, you would enjoy this even more (I’m not, but even I enjoyed those *chapters*).ย Fangirl is NA (college).
Lastly, my favorite one of them all, Attachments. Can you say DIFFERENT? This woman, Rainbow Rowell, can write her ass off. As much as I have loved all of the books I have mentioned on this post before these, I have not read an author that has captivated me as much as she has. Completely and utterly captivated me to the point that I do not want to read anything BUT her. I want to say that I’m exaggerating, but you’ll have to give me a week to get off of this because I just finished Eleanor & Park last night at midnight and I am in love with Rainbow right now. My husband is going to frown and give me a weird look when I say this aloud later on (because I’m sure I’ll say this to him), but I am in love with her! LOL Seriously, guys, please go read her books. Which one? ALL OF THEM.
I hope you all have an AMAZING New Year’s Eve. Remember to make a wish at midnight. Also remember to work on that wish throughout the year, because wishes do come true, but not without great effort. I love you, I wish you a happiness, love, and health. a Rafflecopter giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway

Great recommendations! I have been hearing buzz about Rainbow & Fangirl, so that was confirmation. We had a lot of overlap. ADORED Karina Halle’s TAT series, Beautiful Bastard et al. And was pleasantly surprised to see L.H. Cosway’s Painted Faces on your list. She’s one of my faves and so underrated/undertouted! Just added a few to my TBR. Like I can afford any more, but hey…there could be worse vices than books! LOL. Happy New Year.
